Hello,
When choosing a new pair of shoes, I think about which trousers in my wardrobe I might wear them with.
Looking back through the clothes you already have can be part of the fun, even before you buy the shoes.
This time, a few thoughts on BB SHOES by ABELIA EDOWARD GOUCHA.
In the Journal we wrote when we started carrying ABELIA, I talked about the pleasure of pairing simple clothes with a slightly unusual design.
Wondering how to wear something is part of why I like clothes.
I would like you to look at BB SHOES in that way, too.
A sneaker-like shape with a leather upper. How might they look with your usual clothes? Let’s take a little time to look at the photographs.

The photograph above shows TYPE 2 White, paired with a grey jacket and pale trousers.
With the clothes in similar tones, the white toe stands out below the hem.
The jacket keeps the outfit together, while the shoes make it look a little more casual. It makes me think about wearing shoes like these even on a day when I dress a little more formally.
Then there is the length of the trousers.
A longer hem could reveal just the toe, or a slightly shorter one could show the straps too. Even with the same white shoes, changing how much you show might give you another way to think about the clothes you wear with them.

Here is TYPE 3 Brown/White.
Your eye moves from the broad brown straps to the white toe.
The clear boundary between the colours makes the shape of the shoes easy to see. The brown straps could become a focal point at your feet.
Seeing them beside denim makes me want to show both the white and the brown.
The blue of the denim, and the white and brown of the shoes. Even with something simple on top, there is pleasure in thinking about how those three colours come together.
The combination of leathers is different, too. White uses cow leather and nubuck; Brown/White uses cow leather and embossed cow leather.
An all-white colour to show the shape, or two colours to show the details? Look at the materials as well, and imagine each pair beside your usual trousers.
Choosing new shoes might make you reach again for trousers you have not worn for a while.
I hope a purchase can bring that sort of pleasure to the clothes you already own, too.
You can see the two types together on the BB SHOES page.
At the shop, please try pairing them with your usual trousers as well.
